Thematic Approach
To implement this, the curriculum is driven through experiential and memorable experiences. We aim to make explicit links with other, related curriculum areas and experiences ensuring that all of the skills and knowledge set out in the National Curriculum are taught throughout the year.
We also provide and include:
- educational visits to significant places of interest
- outdoor learning
- assemblies or whole school initiatives
- charity fundraising, led by the children
- visitors to school
- extra-curricular clubs
- celebration and explorations of significant national or world events (for example: World Book Day or Black History Month)
We currently use Cornerstones Maestro to help us to plan this thematic approach, ensuring that all of the curriculum is taught and that the skills and knowledge that pupils learn, builds upon something that they have learned previously.
Please take a look the table below to see our themes of study.
