Term 5 - Intriguing India

This term, we will be learning about the amazing and interesting country of India. 

We will be reading stories from 'Tamarind and the Star of Ishta' by Jasbinder Bilan. The story follows young Tamarind, who returns to India for the first time to meet her late mother's family. Mystery surrounds her mother's passing and Tamarind must find out what truly happened. 

In our Writing lessons, we will be developing our skills of narrative, instructional, formal and non chronological report writing. 

We will be exploring this topic through our Geography lessons too. We will be looking at where int he world India is located, its climate and its native animals as well as enjoying an Indian Food day to celebrate the cuisine of India. 

In out Science lessons, we will be learning about light. We will explore how light travels in straight lines, how colours are created and seen as well as reflection, refraction and shadows. 

In our Spanish lessons we will be learning how to give and receive directions between different locations.  

In PE, we will be practising our cricket skills, involving effective fielding, batting and bowling, as well as learning the rules of the game.

In our RE lessons, we will be continuing to explore what different religions do when times get hard. 

Lastly, in our PSHE lessons, we will be learning about the topic 'Relationships' where we will learn about how to maintain healthy relationships and friendships.
