Our aim is to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential. We greatly value the partnership between home and school and recognise the important role that families play in supporting children’s progress and wellbeing. We encourage open and positive communication and look forward to working together to ensure a successful and rewarding year for every child.

Year 3 is an exciting step into Key Stage 2, where children develop greater independence, confidence, and a positive approach to learning. We will continue to build upon the children’s Key Stage 1 learning, supporting them to challenge their own thinking, ask thoughtful questions, and engage in purposeful discussions and conversations that help them to develop and articulate their ideas.

Throughout the year, the children will explore a varied selection of engaging texts, chosen to inspire their imagination, develop their vocabulary, and encourage thoughtful discussion. These stories will support the development of their reading skills while nurturing a love of literature.

We aim to provide a range of enriching experiences, including educational trips, themed learning days, and engaging activities designed to inspire curiosity and foster a love of learning.

Key Information

- Home time is at 3:30pm and we will exit through the Fox’s class door.

- PE is on Thursdays and Fridays. Please make sure your child arrives at school in the correct PE kit, hair up and without earrings in.

- Spellings will be practised within school throughout the week and tested on Fridays. and Times Tables tests are on a Friday. Please encourage your child to practice their spellings at home – Spelling Shed is a great resource for this. Your child’s log in should be in their reading record.  

- 15 minutes of reading at home should be completed every day and recorded in your child's reading record.

- It is important for children to have time at home to practice their times tables. TTRS log ins should be in their reading records.

- Children will be given a termly homework project for them to complete with their adults at home, which is a nice opportunity for them to share their learning with their family. This homework will be given at the start of the term and projects can be bought in up until the end of the term. We will then share these within the class and celebrate the children's achievements.

- Library visits will be on Wednesdays.
