Welcome to our Year 5 class page! Here, you can discover what we are learning and celebrate the children’s achievements with us. We will share useful resources, key dates, class news and snapshots of the activities and experiences that make Year 5 an exciting year.

We aim to provide a welcoming and encouraging classroom where children feel valued, develop their curiosity and embrace new challenges. Working closely with families is an important part of this, and we welcome open communication to support each child’s learning and wellbeing.

Year 5 at Springhead Park marks the beginning of upper Key Stage 2, bringing opportunities for children to take greater responsibility for their learning and become increasingly independent. Our broad curriculum encourages them to investigate, think creatively and persevere through challenges, with practical activities and memorable experiences bringing their learning to life. In English, children strengthen their spelling, punctuation and grammar skills while exploring how precise vocabulary, varied sentence structures and figurative language can engage a reader. Through reading, discussion and writing for different purposes, we support every child to communicate thoughtfully and confidently.

Each day, please try to complete:

• 10 minutes on Spelling Shed

• 20 minutes of reading daily

• 10 minutes of TTRS
