Hi everyone and welcome to Gecko Class! My name is Miss Johnson and I am very excited to be the Gecko class teacher this year! I love visiting museums, reading lots of books, and spending time with my family. My favourite school subjects are history and English. This year we are going to be investigating and learning about a variety of new and interesting topics - I can't wait to get started.
Grown ups: If you need to have a chat about anything school related, feel free to grab me at the end of the day once all of the children of the children have gone home or call/email the office who can pass a message on to me.
All termly homework and spellings will be uploaded on teams and on term pages for those without access to teams. Fortnightly homework will be uploaded to teams. Homework and spellings can be printed for those without internet access but please look after these hard copies.
End of the Day
When we finish for the day we will be leaving from the library door at 3:30pm.
Our spelling test day is on a Friday. Spellings can be found on the individual term pages and on teams. We recommend practising spellings 3x a week.
From term 3 the children will be having a times tables test once a week. Please practice on TT rockstars for 10-15 minutes daily.
Our PE day is on Thursday. Please make sure your child comes to school in the correct PE kit.
Reading books will be changed by the children independently whenever they need to change them. They will need to do this first thing in the morning. Home reading should be done at least 5x a week and the reading record needs to be signed with a comment by an adult or the child.
At school the children will record in their reading record each time they read aloud or to a grown up in school. Reading records will be checked at least twice a week and signed by the teacher.
Every two weeks I will be setting English and maths homework on teams. These will need to be handed in on teams by returning the assignment for marking. These homework pieces will be based on what we are learning in class. Please allow your child to complete this as independently as possible.
On the term pages you will find the termly homework assignment. Children can chose one of the six options for homework that will need to be handed in by the date shown on the page. If you are submitting a video or image for your homework, it can be uploaded to teams.
