Term 3- Traditional Tales
In term 3, we will be exploring 'Traditional Tales' topic, where children immerse themselves in the magical world of classical stories that have been loved for generations. We will be reading well-known tales such as 'Little Red Riding Hood', 'The Three Little Pigs', and 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears', discovering their key features and practicing our descriptive language to talk about the main characters. Through creating story maps, we will be learning how to sequence events and understand how stories begin, build, and end. To extend our creativity, we will designing imaginative 'Wanted' posters to help catch the Big Bad Wolf, combining literacy and art.
Support your child at home
- Share your favourite stories together, encouraging your child to join in with repeated phrases and use different voices for each character.
- Talk about story structure, looking at the beginning, the middle and the end of the story, asking questions like: 'How does the story start?', 'What happened next?' or 'Tell me how did the story end?'
- Retell your favourite tales through play using toys, puppets or even objects to act our the stories.
- Visit the local library together, look for story collections or picture books. Let your child choose their own books to build a love of readings.
