Welcome to Koala Class!

Our Indoor Learning Environment

Helpful information for parents and carers:

  • The main gate will be opened by staff at 8:40am and children will be allowed in. At the end of the day it will be opened at 3:20pm for collection. The children will leave from the doors in the classroom. This area is our outdoor classroom so please can we ask that you do not allow siblings to play with equipment in there.
  • Each child will be given a reading record and a reading book. We ask that you read with your child AT LEAST 5 times a week and record this in the book. Books will be changed weekly. We will also assign books online linked to our phonics learning.
    • Your child's reading book will be changed on a TUESDAY.
    • Your child's library book will be changed on a WEDNESDAY.
  • All children should have a spare change of uniform and underwear in a bag for their peg in school please.
  •  We go out in all weathers in reception and encourage messy play therefore children should have named wellies and waterproof suits to wear for water and messy play.
  •  In Reception, we will be sending home a weekly learning letter via email so you as parents know what we have been learning in school.
  • As parents you shortly be provided a Tapestry log in, this should be used to share your child’s learning at home.
  • We do not start PE until term 5, so please do not bring a PE kit into school, you will be reminded nearer the time and informed about which day we will be doing PE.
  • Please can we ask that children do not bring their own toys into class, if they want to bring something to school to settle them, please ensure that you take it home with you, so it stays safe and doesn’t get broken or lost.
  • Please do not worry about your child’s ability, they will all be at very different levels when starting school. Ensuring your child is school ready means that they can, for example, recognise their name, can do their coat up and use the toilet on their own. Everything else will come in time.
  • We want your child to settle quickly and enjoy their time at Springhead Park Primary School. Please let us know of any concerns or questions you may have to help us do this.
