Term 3 - WW2: The Home Front

This term, we will be continuing our learning about WW2. 

 

We will continue to read 'Goodnight Mister Tom' by Michelle Magorian. We will be reading the story of how Willie is adapting to life in the countryside and discovering what the future holds for him. 

 

In our Writing lessons, we will be developing our skills of narrative, instructional, formal and non chronological report writing. 

 

We will be exploring this topic through our History lessons. We will be looking at the key events throughout the war, before exploring the technologies developed as well as the different air craft and weaponry used by both the British and German forces. We will also be learning about code breaking before exploring the lasting effects of WW2 across Europe. 

 

In our Maths learning, we will be starting by learning about decimal numbers and calculating with them, before moving on to learn about percentages. Finally we will be learning about fraction, decimal and percentage equivalence. 

 

In out Science lessons, we will be learning about the human circulatory system and the role of the heart, lungs and blood. We will also explore how to keep fit and healthy. 

 

In our Spanish lessons we will be continuing our learning of the vocabulary of 3D shapes as well as learning how to explain our favourite sports in Spanish. 

 

In PE, we will be covering a Dance topic, learning how to use props within a dance as well as different dance styles such as Bhangra and Disco!

 

In our RE lessons, we will be exploring what different religions believe about arts, architecture, charity and generosity.

 

Lastly, in our PSHE lessons, we will be learning about the topic 'Dreams and Goals', and we will think about goals for ourselves and a focus on personal development.
