Term 6 - Moving on up! Transition to Secondary School

This term, we will be focussing on developing skills we will need for later life and moving up to secondary school, to aid transition.

We will be reading stories from 'Wonder' by RJ Palacio, which tells the story of Auggie, a boy born with differences, who goes to school for the first time. It is a story about friendship and about celebrating each other's differences. 

We will be developing key skills, such as reading timetables, being organised, using public transport and being mentally and self-aware in preparation for leaving primary school. 

In out Science lessons, we will be learning about electricity, how it was discovered and how to build safe, working circuits. 

In our Spanish lessons we will be learning the vocabulary associated with different transport modes and map directions.

In PE, we will be practising our athletic skills, including running, javelin, long jump... All in time for Sports Day!

In our RE lessons, we will be continuing to explore what different religions do when times get tough.

Lastly, in our PSHE lessons, we will be learning about the topic 'Changing Me' where we will learn about self image, puberty and changing bodies, boyfriends and girlfriends and real self and ideal self image.
